Frequently Asked Questions

Home Frequently Asked Questions

How should I package my items?

Simply place your items in a tight group on your porch (clearly separated from any items you do not want us to pickup).  Please note that if you provide a container such as a Rubbermaid tote, it will not be returned to you and will be considered as part of your consigned items.  You are welcome to box up your items, place them in plastic bags, or simply place them loose on your porch in a tight stack.

I’m not sure my items are worth consigning – should I consign them?

Yes!

During the initial sorting and researching of your consigned items, if we determine any of your items to be ‘too low’ in value to sell (e.g. the item usually sells for $5.00 new and the item consigned is used/damaged/stained/etc.), it will not be listed for sale; it will be donated.

You don’t have to go through all your items and make the effort to evaluate each piece – we’ll do all that for you and save you a trip to the donation center!

See: What Should I Consign?

Can I get my items back after I consign them?

No!

After we collect your consignment items you will not be able to get them back.  We spend considerable resources to sort, research, photograph, list, market, store, and package the items consigned with us. Items are also often distributed and stored in different geographic locations.  Please keep this in mind prior to consigning with FPC.

Can I price my own items?

No.

The company with which we partner to sell your consigned goods sells competitively to a nation-wide customer base.  We guarantee that we will strive to make you the most money possible – The more you make, the more we make!

In order for us to operate efficiently without charging pickup fees and without imposing very limited lists of ‘acceptable items’ (as is the industry standard), we must set prices exclusively – and without any pricing input from our local partner consignors (you).

What is done with unsold consignment items? How will I know what sold?

After your Consignment Period (*generally 90 +/- days after we collect & start marketing your items), we will pay you via Venmo or check.   Then, we will email you a detailed report containing the list of items sold and the total payout amount.  All consigned items that are not posted for sale or sold during your term will either be purchased by our sister company Wando Warehouse or will be donated to local Charleston-area organizations.

Our Local Charleston-Area Donation Partners:

We primarily partner with:

      • ECCO (East Cooper Community Outreach)
      • East Cooper Home Store
      • Seacoast Church’s Dream Center
      • Lowcountry Orphan Relief

The unsold item donations work to provide resources and opportunities to low-income, homeless, and under-served Lowcountry families.

Of course we’ll do everything we can to sell your consigned items, but please take comfort in knowing that any consigned items you provided that are not sold have positively contributed to your local community!

Please note: you will not have the option of retrieving any items you have consigned with FPC. Once we collect the items, you will not get them back.

*Consignment terms will vary depending on the volume of items consigned, types of items consigned, time of year/seasonality, etc.  Consignors may choose to closeout accounts after the initial 90 day period, or my choose to extend in an effort to sell more items.

Do you consign furniture or large items?

At this time we are MOSTLY only able to accept smaller items.  The company we partner with sells primarily via shipping (across the continental United States).  Generally, if the item would be ‘shippable’ with services like USPS, UPS or FedEx, then we can accept it.  If you have items you’d like to consign that you’re unsure about or are ‘on the fence’, you can leave out near the FPC consignment container – and we’ll collect if we can consign, or we’ll leave if we can’t.

If you have larger items you’d like to consign, please ask us (text or email us with any specific details) and we’ll do our best to accommodate, but we are limited.

We hope to be able to accommodate more furniture and larger items in the future.

Stay tuned for additional consignment services coming soon!

How Much Can I Consign?

Consign as much or as little as you’d like!

Please place your consigned items on your front porch and clearly label “Front Porch Consign”.  We don’t want to remove anything on your front porch you don’t want to consign with us.  Your items can be boxed up, bagged up, or loose and in a tight / clearly-defined stack.

What If I Have A LOT to Consign?

If you are blessed with an abundance of items to consign, we will happily accept them – just please keep in mind that larger-quantity accounts may require extended consignment periods in order to ensure all of your items are posted and have adequate time to sell.

Please Note:

  • At this time, we are only accepting consignment items that are small enough to be shipped through a standard shipping provider like USPS, FedEx, or UPS.
  • Any and all item(s) we collect (including, but not limited to ‘extra’ boxes, totes, containers, etc. will not be returned to you)
You don’t service my location, can we still consign?

While we primarily service the greater Charleston area, we are happy to make exceptions when possible.  Please complete the brief request form to let us know where you live and the approximate number of items you have to consign, and we will get back to you in a timely manner.

How much does it cost?

You (as the consignor) will be entitled to 50% of the net price of the consigned items.   There are currently no additional cost to you – no pickup fees, delivery charges, or any others. We pay you!

What Items are Not Accepted for Consignment?

While we do accept almost anything that is small enough to ship through a standard shipping provider like USPS, FedEx, or UPS, just because we accept an item does not guarantee that will will be able to sell it or that we will attempt to sell it.

Items we do NOT accept:

  • Pets, plants, or any living organism
  • Human or animal remains or body parts
  • Illegal products or items (illegal in the state in which you live / where we collect)
  • Counterfeit products
  • Items too large to ship with a standard shipping service like USPS, UPS, or FedEx
  • TBC…

Items that are heavily soiled/damaged, and items that, if sold, would result in a very low or negative profit after shipping/taxes/fees will not be posted for sale.  For your convenience, we do the sorting and we locally donate the items that we deem to be ‘unsellable’ for you. You do not have to worry about sorting or determining if the item should be donated or consigned – we’ll take care of that for you and save you a trip to the donation center, if applicable.

If you have a question about a specific item you’d like to consign, please don’t hesitate to ask us when you submit your request.

Store-brand clothing typically doesn’t lend itself well to consignment reselling, but it is still accepted.  Please see the link above for more detailed info!
