After getting married and having two kids, I, Billie Ann Blalock found myself constantly driving to consignment stores and donations centers to declutter our bustling home.
I found myself driving for hours (with crying kids in the car!) to Charleston area consignment stores to find their “drop-off period” wasn’t for an hour, and / or they were not accepting donations or drop-offs at that particular time.
After these MANY misadventures, I began to try decluttering by selling via social media platforms like Facebook Marketplace.
That process proved to be equally as tiresome.
Taking ‘good’ photos of items, writing thorough and accurate product descriptions, and coordinating pick up / drop off times once an item sold became more trouble that it was worth.
Most of all, I felt duty-bound to immediately respond to numerous inquiries in order to keep up my ‘response time rating.’
Of course, most of the messages I received were questions that were CLEARLY addressed in the posted ads!
After seeing my struggles and frustration, my husband Scott told me he could sell all my items without the hassle and for more money.
My response? Prove it!
With a background in Business Management and a focus in Executive Leadership & Entrepreneurship from Clemson University, Scott did.
Time and time again he astounded his wife by quickly selling her no-longer-needed items for remarkable prices.
Then, came the season of coronavirus…
After leading a large regional company for twelve years, Scott found himself without work.
During the season of job hunting, Scott ramped up the selling of household clutter and superfluous items we’d accumulated over the years.
The decluttering and selling progress led to us thinking….
If we can order groceries, meal-prep kits, essential oils, clothes, gifts, and pet food to our front door, why isn’t there a hassle-free way to sell items from our front door?
Thus, the BIRTH of Front Porch Consign.
We created a platform that allows Charleston area residents to consign their unwanted items hassle-free and turn their Clutter into Cash with maximum convenience!
